Your Questions About Online Business Success Rate

Mandy asks…

Do higher taxes discourage success?

I’ve just realized I need to pay the higher 40% tax rate which has got me thinking whether any of this is really worth it. I run an online business, work my arse off day and night and have had practically no social life for the past couple of years and for what? I end up with the same amount of money as I started out with. I had plans to expand but I really don’t see the point anymore when I have to give the government almost half of my earnings. Is anyone else in the same position? I know I should be thankful for what i have and I am but what incentive do we have to better ourselves when the results will be the same if not less?

For every 40p you pay the government, you get the other 60p. Someone’s got to pay to keep out country going. In particular, we need a police force and army to discourage people from stealing all your money. If you’re paying 40% tax, it’s because you can afford it more than most of the population of this country.

When I started work, the standard rate of tax was 41.25% and the top rate including surtax was 98%. We still had people who worked day and night to be successful. When the top rate came down to 75%, it didn’t make people work any harder and the present regime seemed to coincide with our new “what’s in it for me” mentality.

Here’s my solution. Personal Allowance 10,000. Basic rate 25%. Higher rate threshold 50,000. Higher rate 50%. Surcharge threshold 1 million, top rate 75%. Anyone owning a British passport has to make a UK tax return on their world income – foreign tax paid is deducted from UK liability. No tax, no passport. Where did I get this weird socialist idea – the USA of course.

Donald asks…

Business Idea… Please tell me what you think.?

Inspired by the HYIP industry. Here me out before you automatically think hyip=scam.

In my mind, HYIP is a failure because criminals are running them. They offer way too a high a percentage and run away with a lot of money.

My proposal is to do it properly. 4.17% a month (max). This = 50% a year. This’ll only reach that rate if enough people are involved. The purpose of the business is to create a world community driven by the idea of helping each other reach success.

Profits would come from products being sold, advertisements and maybe investments by the company. Self-help and personal fitness products would be speciality. (Hense Success Driven)

If the company was to become really popular then I was thinking of doing an online store or drop-shipping like qualities.

My question is would this work? Would you be interested? What do you look for in a company? What do you look for when you purchase from an online store??

Please answer…

The question you need to ask yourself is will I be able to sell enough products/services to support that kind of a return to the people that are going to invest their money in this?
Other things you need to keep in mind is how you are going to differentiate yourself from the rest of them out there, and believe me there are a lot of them offering self help and fitness products, so you do not come out looking like a scammer.
You need to develop a good affiliate program with lucrative commision structure and that opportunity should be offered free in order for your drop shipping to work.
As you see there are a lot of things that you need to consider.
Now the questions you pose are they geared towards people that look for online opportunities to make a living or for just straight up consumers? Again if you want to be different and make sure this works don’t force your consumers to become distributors by promising them the stars and not delivering on anything.

Susan asks…

Would anyone like to sponsor a poker player.?

My name is Brian. I live in Hawthorne, Nevada which is about 2 hours away from Reno and 6 hours away from Vegas. I am not asking for $10,000 for the Main Event because none of you have ever seen me play. I would be able to do this myself but I need to help my family keep the small business afloat which is why I still live here. I only make to it Reno once or twice a month because I am working here so much. This is why it is hard to build a bankroll. Anything I win on the weekends goes to the store. I don’t play online, live games only whether it be cash game or tournament. I know I am only 21 but I have studied this game since I was 10. I have a good success rate but like I said can’t keep a bankroll with a losing business. If you would like to ask any questions or know anyone interested please let me know.

Helen asks…

Computer Technician: Targeting small businesses?

I’ve started bringing in extra income as a freelance computer technician. I do everything from software, hardware, solding power jacks on laptops, and macbooks. After about 50+ customers I haven’t ran into anything I couldn’t resolve unless it was too expensive to be worthwhile for them. But I am also trying to find more sustainable techniques for keeping a flow of customers coming in. Some weeks I get a lot, and others it’s just way too slow. I’ve read that small businesses are a much better source of revenue because they need frequent help.

Other than repairing POS machines for a restaurant, I really have no experience with this.

My main concern is if I already have the skill set needed, and what services do they look for in a computer technician – how do I market to them?

Recently I also signed up with about 7 meetup groups in my local area that involve local small businesses, freelancers, and entrepreneurs.

I’ve read so many posts from people saying, “Oh I tried the computer repair biz a few years ago and couldn’t get enough to make it stick.”

Which is unfortunate as I really enjoy this work and on some days I can get as much as $200 for two hours, reinstalling the Operating systems on 4 computers at once. My plan as of now… Put up 500 water proof flyers. If there is a success rate of %1 or higher, then next week I will put up 2,000, then 5,000 after that – hiring teenagers with GPS if I have too. Also have 2,500 door flyers ordered with a guy who does that.

I’m steering clear of yellow pages because they have lost so much of their customer base lately… and online advertising (though I might look into it later) because I mean… what is my add going to say,

“Got A Virus That Is Blocking You From Getting Online…. Then Click On My Website Now!”

Isn’t it ironic that the Windows Troubleshooting Program always makes two suggestions, the first is “Print These Directions Then Restart Your Computer” and the second “Go Online For More Information” …. When it’s the printer and internet that usually have problems the most frequently?

admin answers:

Haha! That would be a funny slogan. I would avoid door to door flyers in residential areas. Most of the time, all you’ll get is hate calls telling you not to put a flyer on their door. (Ridiculous, I know). If you’re looking for programming or websites or something you should try Elance. Http://www.elance.com. You set your own terms. Pretty exciting.

When I worked for a small business, she would bring in the Geek Squad from Best Buy. They fixed her POS cash drawer, helped format her Quickbooks, Saved her computer from the blue screen of death, and did other minor things when she pushed a wrong button. She brought them in probably at least once a week. Definitely good business.

Good luck!
